| Zinc Anodes |

| Galvanic corrosion is common in salt- and fresh-water marine environments. To prevent it, sacrificial zinc anodes may be attached to offshore platforms, vessel hulls, and other underwater structures. Zinc anodes can protect pipelines and other buried structures in soils of resistivity less than 1000 Ω-cm. A zinc anode may also be used as an electrical ground or permanent reference electrode. | |
